Kip (k) is a non-SI entity of force that correspondents 1,000 pounds-force, used generally by architects and engineers to find out engineering loads. It is equivalent to one half of a U.S. ton. Although uncommon, it is rarely also considered a unit of mass, equal to 1,000 pounds, i.e. one half of a U.S. ton.
